The earlier than normal kick-off time to accomodate viewing of the International clash with Hungary meant a slightly earlier tea, however those in attendance at The Vetch Field - the final time a Yeovil Town side will ever play there - saw an entertaining game between two young teams that attempted to play football in the correct fashion.
Ten minutes had passed when Steve Collis in the Yeovil Town goal made his first telling stop, saving well from Chad Bond. However it was the visitors who took the lead after twenty minutes when Kezie IBE scored from outside the box with a low shot that beat 'Swans' keeper Kyle Letherhen inside his near post at the West Terrace End. Swansea were not behind for too long as Chad BOND got free to fire a high shot past Collis two minutes later to level the scores. The home side should have taken the lead when Antonio Corbisiero shot over when it appeared easier to score moments later as Collis was left exposed.
The home side took the lead for the first time in the game when Bond got away to set up Antonio CORBISIERO who found the net with a low shot past Collis into the centre of the goal with ten minutes of the first-half remaining. Collis produced a good stop prior to the towering Jacob Guy shooting over before Swansea hit the post through Shaun MacDonald. The final opportunity of the half fell to Yeovil however when Adrian Caceres fired a free kick from the angle of the box into the enclosure infront of The West Terrace - the ball sailing too close for comfort for the backpeddling Swans' custodian.
After the interval Yeovil levelled with their first attack of the half when Adrian CACERES was in the right place at the right time to knock the ball home from eight yards after fifty minutes after Letherhen had failed to hold onto a loose ball. The visitors should then have taken the lead when Kezie Ibe found himself one on one with Letherhen, however the former Staines Town man opted to knock the ball around the goalkeeper instead of laying off the simple pass to fast approaching team mates and the chance was gone. Swansea then punished this wastefulness when Chad BOND hit a spectacular 76th minute winner with a stinging drive that gave Collis no chance to give the home side what proved to be the winning goal.
Mention must be made as to the kindness of the home club who insisted that me and my son did not pay to gain admission, despite passing through the turnstiles. Also someone came and found us at half-time to give us sandwiches!
A single sheet programme was issued for the game.
