Name: Stephen Collis

Position: Goalkeeper

Date of Birth: 18 March 1981

Place of Birth: Harrow, Middlesex

Profile : Steve began his career at the Watford Youth Academy under Gary Johnson before moving to Barnet in 1999. In 2002 he joined Nottingham Forest on a free transfer before teaming up again with Gary Johnson a year later at Huish Park (writes George Murray).

Steve had to wait patiently until he finally made his debut in the 4-0 win at Dagenham at the end of the 2002-03 season. He was given an extended run in the first team when number one keeper Chris Weale broke his hand in March 2003 and when onto playing 13 games in goal while bagging some awesome performances. Despite being replaced by Weale the following season, Steve was given another chance to prove himself in goal in April 2005.

During the 2004-05 season, Steve more or less split the first team goalkeeping duties with Chris Weale, in part due to Weale being sent off in December at Brentford and then picking up a cruciate knee ligament injury at Chesterfield in March. On both occasions Steve took over between the sticks and actually completed the 2005-06 season as the club's No.1 keeper, with Weale on the sidelines injured.

Somewhat surprisingly, Steve was not offered a new contract by the club at the end of the 2005-06 season and on June 2nd 2006 he signed a two year deal with Southend United, who had just been promoted to the Championship, leaving Yeovil Town in rather low key circumstances after five years of service at Huish Park.
