Name: Ben Whitfield
Date of Birth: 28 February 1996
Place of Birth: Bingley
Ben was born on February 28th 1996 in Bingley. He has spent the majority of his professional career working his way through Bournemouth's academy system, having signed for them from Guiseley in January 2014. He was picked up by the Cherries after he broke into Guiseley's first team from the age of 16 years old, whilst also playing for their Under-18s side. He also played more junior age youth football for Bradford City and West Yorkshire side Silsden before making the move to Guiseley. He has some first team experience with another non-league side in Kidderminster Harriers. The loan deal was a fairly fruitful experience with him managing 29 appearances, scoring six goals across two spells during the 2015-16 season.
His move to Yeovil Town saw him spent the whole of the 2016-17 season on the club's books. There he clocked up 42 appearances, scoring three goals. That included his rather memorable debut goal, scored against Stevenage in November 2016, with him providing an equaliser deep into second half injury time. With the club at that time playing mainly a 4-3-3 formation, he occupied a variety of positions, although usually as a right-sided midfielder, or occasionally as a wide-right forward.
The 2017-18 season saw Ben move to Port Vale, again as a season long loan spell. Again, he was a mainstay in their side in League Two, making 39 appearances and scoring four goals. In January 2018, Vale tried to sign him on a permanent basis for a fee of around £35,000, but that deal didn't complete, with Whitfield making the decision to continue his stay at Vale Park on a loan basis. He returned to Bournemouth at the end of that season.
