Name: Alex Lacey
Position: Central Defender
Date of Birth: 31 May 1993
Place of Birth: Milton Keynes
Alex Lacey became Yeovil Town's thirteenth signing of the 2015 summer when he agreed to leave Luton Town, with a year left to run on his contract at Kenilworth Road. He agreed his contract with the Glovers on July 22nd 2015, with his name having been on the rumourmill for the proceeding six weeks. He is a 6 foot 2 inches tall centre-back is a product of their youth system, who has also had loan experience with four non-league sides during the early period of his career development.
Born in Milton Keynes on May 31st 1993, he moved his way through the Hatters' youth ranks, and was given a scholarship in 2007. His first professional contract came in the summer of 2010, whilst Luton were still a Conference club, making his debut for them in December 2010.
Then came a series of loan spells that gave him first team experience whilst still a teenager, with one Southern League club taking him on loan, followed by three Conference South outfits. Cambridge City (14 appearances), Thurrock (3 appearances), Eastbourne Borough (14 appearances, two goals), and Eastleigh (20 appearances, one goal) all gave him game time whilst he stayed on the fringes of Luton's first team.
His breakthrough year came in 2013-14, when Luton gave him 22 appearances at Conference Premier level, with him scoring one goal as they gained promotion back to the Football League. At that stage he was given a two year contract with the club, which seemed to be a strong move for the Hatters given that he was reportedly receiving plenty of attention from other Football League clubs. During the season just gone though, many of his 20 first team appearances have come from the substitutes bench, and they made the decision to transfer list him during May, just after the end of the 2014-15 season.
Alex has penned a two year contract with Yeovil Town, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2017.
