Date of Birth: 3 June 1990
Place of Birth: Crewe
AJ Leitch-Smith is a striker who is a product of Crewe Alexandra's academy system. He joined the club on June 27th 2014, having been released by his childhood club at the end of the previous season.
Up until that point, everything about AJ's career had been centred around Crewe, which was the town in which he was born. He joined the club as a seven-year-old and progressed all the way through the academy ranks, before turning professional in 2008. He made his first team debut against Bury in September 2009, but spent much of his early years as a professional on loan at other clubs, taking in Halifax Town Newcastle Town, Curzon Ashton and Icelandic side Iūrottabandalag Vestmannaeyja all whilst he was a teenager.
He began to make his breakthrough as a Crewe first team during the 2010-11 season and went on to make 122 appearances, scoring 22 goals. During that time he gained honours as a League Two Play-Off Final winner in 2011-12 and then followed that up a year later as a Football League Trophy winner. However, during his final season at Gresty Road, he began to slip down their pecking order, and probably in the interests of both parties he was given the opportunity of a fresh start elsewhere at the end of that campaign.
He signed a two year contract with Yeovil Town upon his arrival at the club, that will keep him at Huish Park until the summer of 2016.
