Place of Birth: Brighton
Adam Virgo is a former Brighton and Hove Albion central defender who signed a one year contract with the Glovers on July 30th 2010. Adam arrived at Huish Park at the start of July after being released by Brighton at the end of the 2009-10 season. He is a versatile player who the Seagulls used in numerous positions during two spells encompassing seven years in Sussex.
Virgo hails from Brighton, and so was already familiar with Glovers assistant manager Nathan Jones who was another long serving Seagulls player. He started his career with his home-town club by turning professional in 2000, after a spell moving through their youth ranks. Having also had a short loan spell with Exeter City, in 2005 he was transferred to Glasgow giants Celtic for a fee of £1.5 million.
He spent three years with the other green'n'white hooped side, but failed to grab a regular spot, eventually being loaned out to Coventry City and Colchester United, before he got the opportunity to return to Sussex in the summer of 2008. He was initially a regular for the Seagulls in his second spell, but slipped down the pecking order after the arrival of Brighton manager Gus Poyet, and was released in May 2010.
