Yeovil Town are taking over the operation of the football pitches at Alvington as of next Monday. The pitches are currently owned by Westland Sports and the club have used them in the past for Youth Team matches.
However, it would appear that the role of landlord and tenant is about to switch over in the club's favour, thus allowing them permanent pitches that could allow some of the feeder sides to relocate back from Somerton or alternatively allow the Community Trust and Centre of Excellence training sessions and matches to be housed there.
The Centre of Excellence sides are entering a formal league this season, and therefore there is clearly a pressing need for additional pitches to be made available. With the first set of fixtures due next weekend, the timing of the club's takeover of Alvington would appear to fit that plan.
