Yeovil Town's Under 15s side played the second of their three-match tour today against Everton. They achieved a highly creditable 2-1 defeat against a side from one of the best academy set-ups in the country, even managing to hold a half time lead.
Tom Salter put the Glovers 1-0 up at half time, and although they again faded during the second period, coming out with a 2-1 defeat, this was a vast improvement on the 6-0 thrashing by West Bromwich Albion earlier in the week, which has been partly put down to tiredness from travelling up on the day of the game. Having had time to settle in the North-West, the youngsters were able to put on a much improved performance.
There are still some concerns over the ability for the Under 15s to last games the full 90 minutes and this is something that coaches Mike Matthews and Terry Skiverton are likely to work on when the boys return home.
The travelling party had the evening off tonight and so were able to go and watch the Manchester City vs FC Midtjylland UEFA Cup match at the City of Manchester Stadium. Their final tour match is on Saturday where they will take on Aston Villa, using the match as an opportunity to head back down the M6 as they make their way home.
