Ex-Yeovil Town director Norman Hayward has resigned his position on the Community Mutual Board of AFC Bournemouth.
Hayward, who was a major shareholder and chairman of the Cherries in the early Nineties, was co-opted onto the fans trust by a unanimous vote last year. We are led to believe that at a previous Community Mutual meeting, one at which Hayward was not in attendance, the board discussed ways of removing Hayward from the trust. There is currently no explanation as to why some present wished to vote him off. These discussions were minuted and duly circulated to all board members, including Hayward himself. The presumption is therefore that Mr Hayward has jumped before he was pushed.
Despite Yeovil chairman John Fry insisting several times in recent months that there are no plans for Hayward to return to Huish Park rumours persist that the close friend of owner David Webb is on his way back.
