Yeovil Town Caretaker Manager Neale Marmon has said that striker Francois Zoko may be recalled as far as the substitutes bench for Good Friday's trip to Crewe Alexandra. The 35 year old has only played in two minutes of Marmon's three games so far, and was left out of the squads selected for the matches against Swindon Town and Crawley Town, with the temporary manager allowing Zoko an extended weekend back in Nottingham for the first of those two matches.
That has led to the question of whether Zoko would be part of any future teamsheets that Marmon selects for the remainder of the 2018-19 season. But he has explained that Zoko is still part of his thinking at present. Marmon told BBC Somerset that when he took over the reins, he didn't think that Zoko was doing enough on the training ground to justify inclusion. However, this week he has started to see a difference:
"It's looking like Francois will be be joining us in the squad that travel to Crewe. He's trained very well this week. So we're going to look for his experience on the bench. Francois has been a warhorse for a long time in this club and he's scored a lot of goals and saved them in previous years. But I wasn't happy with how much running he was doing in training. I explained that to him. There was no animosity whatsoever. It's just the fact that I saw these things done. I explained to him that if he changed it, he'd got a chance. He has changed it this week so that's why he'll be involved in the next game that we've got."
Marmon has restated that Carl Dickinson and Craig Alcock remain outside of his plans. Both players were dropped by predecessor Darren Way, with Dickinson having only featured in one game over the last two months, whilst Alcock has been absent entirely. Neither have featured under Marmon, and he said that he was fully aware of Dickinson's current location, having given him permission to try to find a new club for the 2019-20 season as soon as possible:
"Carl has been training with Port Vale. We gave him the opportunity to take a chance to get a new club for next year. We know that he's got a contract here, but he's got an opportunity to get a club somewhere near where he lives. Craig Alcock we've involved now with the Academy because he's looking at his coaching badges."
As reported yesterday, Omar Sowunmi is due to return for the two Easter Holiday fixtures, with Alex Pattison also in contention after suffering no ill-effects from his comeback game last weekend. The only absentee, in terms of fitness, is named as winger Rhys Browne, although there is a hope that he will be ready to resume full training by the weekend, after suffering a hamstring problem.
