Yeovil Town Under-18s managed to gain a safe passage into the Second Round of the FA Youth Cup tonight, as they knocked Newport County out of the competition. In a match played at Spytty Park, rather than Newport's first team pitch, it was Callum Morton who won the match, scoring his goal during the first half of the tie for a 1-0 away win.
The home side were unable to respond during the second period, meaning that the Glovers now face Merstham in the Second Round stage. FA guidance is for all ties to be played by Saturday 19th November. Most ties are played on the club's main first team stadium pitch as a midweeker - in this case Huish Park. Like the FA Cup, the Second Round stage is the last stage before Academy sides associated with Premier League and Championship clubs come into the competition.
