Relegated Championship side Doncaster Rovers have begun a massive clear out of their squad, following their drop back into League One. Included in a list of twelve players are former Glovers duo Adam Lockwood and Simon Gillett, who both become free agents over the summer, with the Yorkshire side having allowed sixteen players overall to depart since the season ended.
The other players include James Hayter, Sam Hird, John Oster, Fabien Robert, James Baxendale, Rachid Bouhenna, James Chambers, Mustapha Dumbuya, Paul Keegan and Damien Plessis with the quartet of Giles Barnes, Oscar Radford, El-Hadji Diouf and Pascal Chimbonda having departed earlier.
Lockwood had been at the Keepmoat Stadium since he left Huish Park in the summer of 2006, after he decided to move back closer to his Wakefield roots. He made 180 appearances for Donny, scoring eight goals for them, but with injuries being a problem the 30 year old clocked up just 15 appearances in the season just gone.
Gillett had been on Doncaster's books since the summer of 2010, although had enjoyed a loan spell in Yorkshire during the previous season whilst on the books of Southampton. Across those two spells, the 26 year old midfielder made 81 appearances, scoring four goals. He was a regular in their side during the season just gone, making 48 appearances.
One player who does remain on Doncaster's books for next season is winger Martin Woods, who had a short loan spell with the Glovers during the 2007-08 season.
