Former Yeovil Town goalkeeper Chris Weale has become a free agent after he was released today by Championship side Leicester City. Weale is one of six Foxes players who had contracts ending on June 30th, who have been told they will not be receiving offers. The other five are Elliott Chamberlain, Steve Howard, Matt Oakley, Aleksandar Tunchev and Darius Vassell.
Manager Gary Johnson said last week that he might consider a move for the 30 year old if he became available, although suspected that his wages might prove a sticking point. Overall, Weale - who has also played for Johnson at Bristol City - made 87 appearances for the Foxes, with his last game coming in September 2011.
His last competitive action came in February 2012, via a loan spell with Northampton Town, although that ended early, with a knee injury requiring surgery. At present there's been no clue as to when he will be fit and available to resume playing football.
