Last Saturday, the Football League held its Annual Awards night in London, with all 72 member clubs invited to attend the evening. Taking place last Sunday at The Brewery conferencing centre in Barbican, London, a total of 32 clubs were on the shortlist for 17 awards, covering community schemes, marketing promotions, and of course the best players. Yeovil Town weren't included in the short-list of clubs this year.
In addition to the divisional awards for the Player of the Year, the Football League usually publish a Team of the Season for each division, made up of players in rough playing positions, with the team voted for by their fellow professionals. This season they've gone for a slightly different approach, asking each manager to nominate the five players who had impressed them throughout 2011, and on Sunday Huddersfield Town striker Jordan Rhodes was the unsurprising winner, as the current runaway leader of the 2011-12 goalscoring charts in League One.
The Football League have now revealed the full Top Ten for League One from the votes received by the division's managers. Inevitably the list is dominated by teams near the top of the table, with a single nomination for AFC Bournemouth striker Marc Pugh the sole exception. Otherwise, Charlton Athletic, Huddersfield Town and Sheffield United get two nominations each, whilst Milton Keynes Dons squeeze in three players at the lower end of that chart.
The full list of players is as follows:
1. Jordan Rhodes (Huddersfield Town)
2. Johnnie Jackson (Charlton Athletic)
3. Ched Evans (Shefield United)
4. Stephen Quinn (Sheffield United)
5. Bradley Wright-Phillips (Charlton Athletic)
6. Marc Pugh (AFC Bournemouth)
7. Gary Roberts (Huddersfield Town)
8. Darren Potter (Milton Keynes Dons)
9. Steven Gleeson (Milton Keynes Dons)
10. Luke Chadwick (Milton Keynes Dons)
