15 December 2010 : Skiverton Admits Glovers Got 'Found Out' In FA Cup Exit
Yeovil Town manager Terry Skiverton admitted that his team were 'found out' during last night's 4-2 defeat in the FA Cup at Hartlepool United. The Glovers boss said that missing several players through injury and suspension had contributed to his side's downfall, but also noted that Pools had exploited Yeovil's Achilles heel in their inability to defend from set pieces and crosses into the box.

The Glovers were missing centre-back pairing Paul Huntington and Adam Virgo, along with first choice left-back Nathan Smith, whilst loan winger Ivan Sproule was refused permission to play in the FA Cup. Skiverton told BBC Somerset that those absentees did not help his plans:

"This is one of these times when you do get found out with players missing. You try to put a brave face on it, and be positive before the game, but it's when you look at the harsh realities of it. You think you've turned a bit of a corner, but then stuff conspires against you with injuries."

On the plus side, midfielder Ed Upson scored his debut goal for the club, whilst Leicester City loanee Tom Parkes made his full debut. Skiverton praised both players, but felt that other more experienced ones did not come up to scratch on the night:

"I thought Ed Upson did very well and I thought Tom Parkes did well again. But I think I was more disappointed with some of the more experienced players tonight. They didn't really get a foot on the game and they didn't drag the other players with them. But Hartlepool were fantastic in the second half and you've got to give them full credit. I think they caused us problems, and the difference was in the strength of their set plays and in their people who wanted to come in and attack the ball."

The BBC also said that Skiverton had confirmed the earlier report that he was looking at 37 year old Bath City midfielder Alex Russell with a view to a short term deal. The BBC also reported that Skiverton is looking to bolster his backroom staff in the near future, but we've yet to understand what that might entail.
