Yeovil Town and the bottom two levels of the Football League make their entrance into the FA Cup early next month. The First Round will be played on or around Saturday 6th November (subject to policing and television variations), with the draw itself expected to take place the day after the Fourth Qualifying Round matches are played on Saturday 23rd October.
The most important thing to any frugal football club Chairman is how much is it all worth? The answer is that the competition payments are unchanged from last season's figures with the most immediate figure being the £18,000 we'd get if only we can get past the First Round stage for the first time since the 2005-06 season. The full list of payments made to each round's winning teams are as follows (with the number of teams that will benefit in brackets):
Extra Preliminary Round winners (201) : £750
Preliminary Round winners (166) : £1,500
First Round Qualifying winners (116) : £3,000
Second Round Qualifying winners (80) : £4,500
Third Round Qualifying winners (40) : £7,500
Fourth Round Qualifying winners (32) : £12,500
First Round Proper winners (40) : £18,000
Second Round Proper winners (20) : £27,000
Third Round Proper winners (32) : £67,500
Fourth Round Proper winners (16) : £90,000
Fifth Round Proper winners (8) : £180,000
Sixth Round Proper winners (4) : £360,000
Semi Final winners (2) : £900,000
Semi Final runners-up (2) : £450,000
Final winners (1) : £1,800,000
Final runners-up (1) : £900,000
Additional fees for live television broadcasts and highlights coverage are separate to the above figures and have yet to be published, but should be in line with previous seasons given that ITV and Sky are continuing their broadcast rights packages.
The dates for the forthcoming rounds as as follows:
Fourth Round Qualifying : Saturday 23 October 2010
First Round Proper : Saturday 6 November 2010
Second Round Proper : Saturday 27 November 2010
Third Round Proper : Saturday 8 January 2011
Fourth Round Proper : Saturday 29 January 2011
Fifth Round Proper : Saturday 19 February 2011
Sixth Round Proper : Saturday 12 March 2011
Semi-Final : Saturday 16 April & Sunday 17 April 2011
Final : Saturday 14 May 2011
We'll obviously feature it nearer the time, once outcomes are known, but the chances of Yeovil Town getting a local non-league side in the First Round are fairly remote. Not only is the First Round draw national these days, but many of Yeovil's more local rivals are not present in the Fourth Qualifying Round draw that was made today. Bath City are away to Swindon Supermarine, who ensured that Weymouth's time in the FA Cup was very short, with a Second Qualifying Round 3-0 win. Other than Bath, the next nearest clubs are Salisbury City, who travel to Corby Town and Poole Town who are home to Hayes and Yeading United. Meanwhile Forest Green Rovers are home to Maidenhead United.
