Ciderspace News Page : 2009-10 League One Prediction Results
2 August 2010 : 2009-10 League One Prediction Results
Approximately 12 months ago, we produced a prediction survey allowing supporters to guess the key positions for the 2009-10 League One season. It's come to our attention that we've not produced the results for that, and also that we need to produce a similar survey for the 2010-11 season before the proper football recommences!

To recap for those with lousy memories, at the end of the 2009-10 season, Yeovil Town finished 15th in the League One table, whilst Norwich City were Champions and Leeds United were runners up.

Millwall were play-off winners, whilst Charlton Athletic, Huddersfield Town and Swindon Town were the other three who got to the play-offs. At the other end we waved goodbye to Gillingham, Wycombe Wanderers, Southend United and Stockport County.

So how did everyone do? In terms of the key question, eight of you correctly predicted that Yeovil Town would finish 15th. In fact, this was a popular area of the table for supporters to make their predictions with a rather large 61 percent of you predicting we would finish between 10th and 16th. Seven of you thought we'd be relegated, whilst as for the two of you who predicted the Glovers would get automatic promotion, we'll have some of what you were drinking at the time.

As for the eight who predicted Yeovil's finish correctly, step forward and take a bow: Taff, Ian Kinder, ..::AL::.., Oliver, Yatton Green, Roy Clarke, Jon Body and Geroge.

In terms of the automatic promotion places, not too surprisingly there were a huge number of people who had gone for Norwich City and Leeds United. The challenge was getting them in the right order. The bookies had Leeds as favourites but a number of you had different ideas. An impressive total of 16 of you got both and in the right order and these were:

Barry Hemsley, Bowerboy, Chucky, DazTaylor, Geroge, Glover Felix, Green MP, Kyle Garland, Madbull, Nicro6, Paul Sparks, Peter Male, Ryan Fox, Spud Whale, Tony Praill, Torquay Glover.

Given that Millwall were the play-off winners though, and only eight of you thought they would achieve that, it would be really impressive if anyone managed to get all three spot on. Thus Green MP and Kyle Garland should take a bow as they got all three of them correct. Well done guys!

And so, we turn attention to the bottom end of the table. We were already in problems on this one, because only two people in the whole survey predicted that Southend United would get relegated, and no-one thought they would finish 23rd in the table. So straight away, we know that no-one got all four spot on, although well done to Chucky and R.Toogood for being the only ones to foresee the Shrimpers' demise.

That just left the question of whether anyone had got the other three relegation teams correct. No-one got them in the right order, but Ben Barrett, Ian Kinder, Jon Body and Nick Linthorne came out on top as the four supporters who predicted that Gillingham, Wycombe and Stockport would be on their way down.

Thank you to everyone who entered and particularly well done to those of you mentioned above, with one or two getting singled out in more than one area.

There will be a survey for the 2010-11 season in place fairly shortly, so keep an eye out for that. With the League One season opening up 12.15p.m. on Saturday with a televised game between Southampton and Plymouth Argyle, that match's kick-off will be the also deadline for submissions. We'll put up a new article when the survey is ready.
