Officials for Yeovil Town's trip to Milton Keynes Dons have been announced. The man in charge will be referee Paul Tierney (Lancashire).
To our knowledge, this is the first time we've had Mr Tierney as the man in the middle. Our paths crossed when he was an assistant for the April 2006 away game at Huddersfield Town that kept us in League One, whilst more recently he was the Fourth Official for the 5-0 defeat at Stockport County in the FA Cup during November 2008.
And that's basically yer lot. The reason is that he was only promoted to the Football League's referees list during the summer of 2009 and is just 8 games into his League career at that level, plus two cup matches. That's seen a fairly modest looking 21 yellows and 2 reds dished out. Most recently he took charge of Rotherham United's FA Cup Second Round match with Luton Town which ended in a 2-2 draw, and zero bookings for either side.
Last season he bowed out at Conference National level by taking charge of the Football Conference Play-off Semi-final Second Leg between Cambridge United and Stevenage Borough.
Mr Tierney will be assisted by Lee Collins (Surrey) and Marvin Thompson (Middlesex). The Fourth Official will be Gary Young (Bedfordshire).
