Yeovil Town midfielder Gary Roberts has left Yeovil Town by what is described as "mutual consent". The former Crewe Alexandra player had been suspended by the club for an unspecified disciplinary incident with manager Terry Skiverton indicating that he would not be playing for the club again.
That suspension was announced on July 29th, but is strongly believed to relate to a situation that developed at the start of the club's Family Fun Day that took place on the preceding Sunday. Roberts was omitted entirely from Yeovil's squad on the Tuesday night friendly against Bristol City and the news of his suspension came out 24 hours later.
Almost certainly following his disciplinary hearing, Roberts will have been given a severance deal by the club to tear up his existing contract. Roberts is an undeniably gifted midfielder, but with his departure from Gresty Road also having happened under a dark cloud, he may need to change some of his off-the-field behaviour if he is not to see his career go down the tubes.
