Profile :
Billy Gibson is a former Watford winger who is capable of playing on either flank. He was born in Harrow on September 30th 1990 and was given a two year scholarship by Watford in 2007, making 26 appearances for their Youth Team, along with 12 appearances for their Reserves in his opening season. He made his first team début for the Championship side's first team in the League Cup in August 2008, which was to be his only appearance for the club.
During 2008-09, he suffered an injury and missed a large chunk of the season, only coming back in during the summer of 2009. He was loaned out to Isthmian League side Wealdstone in December 2009, scoring twice for them in five appearances.
He was released at the end of the 2009-10 season, but during the summer he had had a trial with League One side Carlisle United, with the Cumbrians having also looked at him during the tail end of the previous season. However they decided against offering him a deal just under a week ago after he had turned out for them against Newcastle United and Glovers manager Terry Skiverton moved in to take him on trial. He was given a short term contract in August 2010 that was later renewed until the end of the 2010-11 season, and that was followed by another year extension.
During the second half of the 2011-12 season, Billy attracted interest from Lincoln City, with the club turning down a bid from the Imps in January 2012. Despite that rebuff that was to be pretty much the end of his Yeovil Town career - he went on loan to Braintree Town, scoring twice in seven appearances, before being released from his contract. He moved to Cambridge United on a one year contract, which was agreed in May 2012.
