Darryl joined the club initially on a short trial from Ipswich Town in February 2007, which was later upgraded to a 93 day loan which would take him to the end of the 2006-07 season. He arrived as an Ipswich academy graduate who was a member of their 2004-05 FA Youth Cup winning side.
He made his debut for the Tractor Boys as a substitute at Sunderland in November 2004, although that still stands as his one and only first team appearance for the Championship side. He signed his first professional contract for the club in May 2005.
Darryl has been a regular for England at youth level, having played for his country in the U17 European Championship qualifiers during the summer of 2005.
Darryl played for the Glovers in a Reserve Team match in February 2007 against Weymouth, winning a penalty for his temporary side within the first 20 minutes of the match. He made his first team debut by coming on as a substitute at Oldham Athletic in March 2007.
