Profile :
Yeovil Town signed winger, Arron Davies, for an undisclosed fee from Southampton in December 2004. The young 21 year old Welshman, who can play on either wing or as a striker, has firmly established himself as a regular fixture for the Glovers, and is adored by fans for his tremendous energy pouring forwards and confidence to shoot at goal, whatever the distance! Davies certainly hit the ground running by scoring a marvellous 25 yard winner at Leyton Orient in his Yeovil debut. While achieving an impressive goals to game ratio of 19 in 44 full appearances for the Glovers (as of the end of the 2005-06 season), Davies has produced unforgettable moments of magic, including his wonder-strike in Yeovil’s tense 4-3 triumph over fellow title-challengers Scunthorpe in March 2005 and his superb hat-trick at Chesterfield in March 2006.
Cardiff-born Davies initially attended his hometown’s youth academy before joining Southampton as a trainee in August 2002. Although failing to register a single first team appearance at St. Mary’s, he was an ever-present in their reserve team, and made the Saints’ initial 20-man squad for the 2003 FA Cup Final against Arsenal. Davies’ first experience of first team football came during a month’s loan to Barnsley in February-March 2004, but now clearly possesses that in abundance after 1½ seasons at Huish Park. Meanwhile, Davies has been representing Wales on several occasions at Under-19, Under-20, and Under-21 level, captaining at Under-21 level on a couple of occasions during the 2005-06 season.
