Name: Enes Mahmutovic
Position: Central Defender
Date of Birth: 22 May 1997
Place of Birth: Pec, Kosovo
Enes Mahmutovic was brought to Yeovil Town on August 30th 2018, as part of a loan agreement with his parent club Middlesbrough. He became the club's twelfth signing of the summer.
Born in Pec, in what was Serbia and Montenegro but is now part of the Republic of Kosovo, he moved to Luxembourg at a young age - a country that has since become his chosen national side. He started his career with CS Fola Esch in Luxembourg , playing there between 2014 and 2017, making 31 appearances.
Enes then was bought up by Middlesbrough in May 2017, for an undisclosed fee. He played for their Under-23 side during the 2017-18 season, but made his debut for the club on August 14th 2018, in a League Cup match against Notts County, scoring in that match. As such, he is claimed to be the only Luxembourg player to score in the English professional leagues. Two weeks later, he played against Rochdale in the next round of that competition.
He has eight full international appearances for Luxembourg, having also played for their Under-21s side. Manager Darren Way said that the player has come to the club as the latest in a chain of recommendations that he's been given:
"Enes is another international who we've brought to the club and I'd personally like to thank Tony Pulis for allowing it to happen. We have a pathway here that's a process in which I trust. Connor Roberts spoke highly of Lewis Wing before he came, and Lewis recommended Alex Pattison who's made an excellent start to life in green and white. Now itís Alex's turn and heís spoken highly of Enes and I think it's important to listen to their views; they share the pitch with these players so their opinion matters to me on top of the groundwork we do as staff. There's a bit of pressure on Alex now given how well all the other players have done after being recommended! I look forward to working with Enes once he's back from representing his country."
Enes has agreed a season-long loan with Yeovil Town that will keep him at Huish Park until the end of the 2018-19 season.
