Name: Sessi D'AlmeidaPosition: Midfielder Date of Birth: 20 November 1995 Place of Birth: Bordeaux, France
Profile :
Sessi was signed by Yeovil Town on July 13th 2018, and became the club's fifth signing of that summer. He put pen to paper after a short trial that saw him playing in a pre-season friendly against Swansea City, agreeing terms three days later.
Born in Bordeaux on November 20th 1995, he began playing for his home city through their Academy system, playing 33 times for B Team (Development Squad) between 2013 and 2015. He made three appearances for Bordeaux's first team during the second of those seasons. He then moved across and played for Paris St Germain's B Team during 2015-16, making 16 appearances.
D'Almeida went on trial with Barnsley in the summer of 2016, and was given a two year contract. However, he only made three Championship substitute appearances, not helped by him suffering an anterior cruciate knee ligament injury that kept him out for the majority of the 2016-17 season. That led to him dropping a level to play for Blackpool in League One. He made 27 appearances for the Tangerines, with 11 of those being from the bench before being released at the end of the 2017-18 season, and is therefore joined Yeovil as a free agent.
He is also a Beninese international, making one appearance against Equatorial Guinea in 2015. He has generally played as a defensive or holding midfielder for his clubs so far. However, after confirming his signature, manager Darren Way said that he saw him as a box-to-box midfielder:
"I feel very lucky to make this signing considering Sessi's CV. He's a box-to-box central midfield player who breaks up play and from what I've seen, he plays with steel, determination and is an all-round midfield player - something this football club has been missing. I'm now excited to see this player develop. Welcome to Yeovil, Sessi."
Sessi was given a one year contract at Huish Park, keeping him on the club's books until the end of June 2019. The club also hold the option on a second year extension, if he impresses during his first season.
