Name: Ryan Bird
Date of Birth: 15 November 1987
Place of Birth: Slough
Ryan Bird became Yeovil Town's eleventh signing of the summer on July 14th 2015. He is a former Cambridge United striker who left them at the end of the 2014-15 season. He became the club's third former Hartlepool United player brought in over the summer, following the capture of Matthew Dolan and Jack Compton. He has also played for Portsmouth, having started his career at non-league Burnham.
Born in Slough on November 15th 1987, the 6'4" forward had spent most of his career playing in non-league football for Burnham, close to his home town, clocking up 340 appearances and scoring 113 goals as a part time player, across nine seasons. During his final campaign, he netted 45 times in 45 appearances as Burnham won their league during the 2012-13 campaign.
Ryan's late burst into life as a goalscorer came because he'd initially played as a central defender, but his prowess during that campaign caught the eye of Wycombe Wanderers and Portsmouth who both offered him a trial. Signing up for the latter, he scored three times in 25 appearances for the Hampshire club.
During his time at Fratton Park, he also played on loan for Havant and Waterlooville (3 appearances) and Cambridge United (13 appearances, nine goals) and the latter turned his temporary spell into a permanent deal after he left Pompey in September 2014, with his contract terminated early by mutual consent. Signing up for Cambridge, he played 28 times for them during the 2014-15 season, scoring six goals. He also had a six game loan spell at Hartlepool United sandwiched in the middle of his time at Cambridge, where he scored two goals.
Ryan has signed a two year contract with Yeovil Town, thus keeping him at the club until the summer of 2017.
