Match Report:

Yeovil Town came from behind yet again this afternoon, to secure their fourth consecutive home victory under Gary Johnson. Their 2-1 win over Brentford at times looked unlikely as the West Londoners dominated the first half and held the lead through a Sam Saunders free kick. However half time team talks seem to be Johnson's thing, and Andy Williams equalised four minutes after the break, before scoring his 12 goal of the season three minutes from time, when his shot was deflected into his own net by Leon Legge to give Yeovil all three points, and lift them up to 17th in the table.

The Glovers went into the match making four changes to their starting line-up; all of them in the central positions. Out went Richard Hinds and Bondz N'Gala, with club captain Paul Huntington coming back into the side after his four match ban, partnering Middlesbrough loanee Jonathan Grounds in the centre. In central midfield there was also a pair of changes, with Dean Parrett and Dominic Blizzard brought in for Ed Upson and Lawson D'Ath, with the latter becoming the club's "sixth loan" and thus sitting in the stand.

Andy Williams threatened early on, when his burst through the middle saw a ball go across the face of the box, with Dean Parrett running in, but overall Yeovil didn't start too well. The visitors got to most of the second balls, and began to control midfield well. Clayton Donaldson forced Sam Walker into making a strong save, then five minutes later Adam Thompson's shot was parried out by Walker, with Luke Ayling doing well to prevent Gary Alexander's rebound shot from going over the line as he covered Walker's position.

Brentford deserved to take the lead, but not in the manner that they managed to. Referee Roger East was having a rather baffling first half, and he judged Dean Parrett's ball-winning challenge on Niall McGinn to be worthy of a free kick. Up stepped Sam Saunders, leaving Glovers goalkeeper Sam Walker wrong footed as the ball landed in the back of the net for what appeared to be a fairly soft goal - one for the TV replay to decide whether the ball took any deflection on the way in.

Following the goal, the Bees gained control of the game. Feeling that his team weren't controlling the midfield, Ed Upson was restored to the starting line-up, with Dean Parrett looking a little sorry for himself as he was replaced just 34 minutes into the match. Apart from Andy Williams, none of the four attacking players were getting into the match, with Gavin Williams, Jonathan Franks and Jonathan Obika seeing very little of the ball. The half time break was undoubtedly needed.

The players were sent out early, with Darren Way putting the players through their paces in an obvious attempt to liven things up. Four minutes into the second period, Gary Johnson got the half time response that he wanted. Ed Upson's through ball was found by Andy Williams, and the striker turned and muscled his way past a pair of Brentford defenders, before curling the ball into the top corner, with a superb 20 yard curled shot. 1-1 and game back on!

Williams could have added to his personal tally twice shortly after that equalising goal, as he broke through twice - once firing over the bar, and another seeing goalkeeper Simon Moore making a save. Yeovil then had appeals for a penalty turned down, as Leon Legge clearly handled inside his own box, as his outstretched hand controlled the ball after it rebounded off his leg. Referee Roger East decided it was ball-to-hand and accidental, and so waved for play to continue.

Midway through the second period, the Glovers had to reorganise as left-back Nathan Jones collapsed with an ankle injury, and immediately signalled for the bench. On came Richard Hinds, with Jonathan Grounds moving into his more regular full-back position. Brentford perhaps were edging the game in the closing stages as they made their own double substitution to try to claim all three points.

However, Andy Williams has already grabbed a late winner in a home match before, having grabbed the winner against Tranmere Rovers in Gary Johnson's opening home match in charge. He received the ball from Jonathan Franks, and ran through on goal before firing the ball towards the target. Bees defender Leon Legge stuck out a boot to block the shot, and the ball span and slowly rolled into the back of the net - possibly an own goal, but given Williams will want his 12th of the season, and Legge won't want his name on the scoresheet, it will doubtless stand as a Willo winner.

There was no chance for Brentford to hit back, even if they bombed a few balls into the box in the hope of making the last three minutes count. Not the best of performances by the Glovers across the 90 minutes, but three points will be the only thing that will matter in the end. That lifts them back to three points clear of the drop, and up to 17th place in the League One table, as Tranmere Rovers continue their slide down the table with defeat at Chesterfield. With Scunthorpe hammering Wycombe, and Rochdale, Exeter and Walsall all drawing, the majority of Yeovil's rivals continue to pick up points, but with 36 points on the board, probably another 5 wins in their remaining 13 fixtures ought to see off whatever those challengers below them end up doing.
