Yeovil Town left it late to put their season back on track, with Russell Sladeís men not having won in their last six attempts going into the game. James Walkerís winner two minutes from time helped Yeovil to an important 2-1 win in front of a crowd of 4,408 and the Sky Sports cameras. Yeovil Town move up to twelfth in League One, just three points off a play-off position.
Yeovil went into the game boosted by the return of former midfielder Darren Way, who returned to Huish Park on-loan until 1st January from Swansea, having moved across the border to Swansea in January 2006 for a reported £150,000. Way, playing in his 248th appearance for the club, played a pivotal role throughout the game and it seemed fitting that his 88th minute pass allowed James Walker, on-loan from Charlton Athletic, to unleash a superb shot on the edge of the box to give Russell Slade the three points.
Yeovil had taken the lead after 66 minutes when a James Walker cross allowed Lloyd Owusu to grab his eighth goal of the season. Gillingham, on their travels have scored just two goals away from home in the league picking up just the single point, equalised ten minutes later through Chris Dickson before Walker fired a superb winner for Yeovil at the death.
