Yeovil Town gained a comprehensive victory in North Devon tonight with a 5-0 win over RRFC Montegnee. Although the Belgian side held their own during the first half, conceding just one goal, the second half saw them struggle to contain Yeovil, and the Glovers ran out as easy victors.
It took the Glovers 32 minutes to open up the scoring, with French trialist Hamdi Rasak converting a Kevin Gall right wing cross. They could have doubled their lead almost immediately with an acrobatic overhead kick in a crowded penalty area.
In the second period, the Glovers doubled their lead on the hour mark, after a trip inside the box allowed Ryan Mason the chance to double their lead. Five minutes later, a break from their own half allowed Nathan Jones to out-run the Belgian defence.
As the 80 minute fixture drew to its conclusion Aidan Downes was able to grab himself two quick goals - the first a rebound from a Dean Bowditch shot, with the second being a conversion from a cross. In the end a very easy victory that puts the Glovers in control in their group, with Grimsby Town the next opponents on Friday.
