16 November 2008 : FA Cup Televised Matches
Further to our November 10th article, describing some of the forthcoming live broadcasts of matches involving Football League clubs, two FA Cup Second Round matches and one First Round Replay have been slotted into the television schedules.

In an act of sheer predictability, Setanta have chosen to show the Northampton Town v Leeds United replay tomorrow (Monday) night, having already picked them out for one of their live showings on the original tie. The match kicks off at 7.45p.m. Having already pocketed £80,000 for television broadcast rights from the match at Elland Road, each club will now pick up a fee for the replay of £37,000.

Just to show that matters can be even more predictable than that, the winners of that match will trouser another £80,000 pounds, plus the £20,000 standard fee that all First Round winners receive. That's because ITV have chosen to view the Second Round tie between Histon and the winners of the Northampton vs Leeds replay. That match will be shown on ITV at 12.15p.m. on Sunday 30th November. The winners of that tie will also pocket £30,000 a Second Round winners, meaning that if Leeds or Northampton get through to the Third Round stage they will have picked up £247,000 plus of course gate receipts on top.

The AFC Bournemouth vs Blyth Spartans Second Round tie now has a fixed date. This will be shown on Setanta at 5.30p.m. on Saturday 29th November.

The FA Cup Third Round Draw will take place live on ITV and Setanta Sports at 2.15p.m. on Sunday 30th November. This means in summary that we have:

Monday 17th November 7.45p.m. : FA Cup First Round Replay : Northampton Town vs Leeds United (Setanta).
Saturday 29th November 5.30p.m. : FA Cup Second Round : AFC Bournemouth vs Blyth Spartans (Setanta).
Sunday 30th November 12.15p.m. : FA Cup Second Round : Histon vs Leeds United or Northampton Town (ITV).
Sunday 30th November 2.15p.m. : FA Cup Third Round Draw (ITV and Setanta).

Setanta are allowed to choose one more FA Cup Second Round tie as part of their contract, but have yet to do so. Logic would therefore suggest that they are awaiting the results of one of the midweek First Round replays before making their final decision.
