This one is strictly off the rumourmill - Port Vale fans are suggesting that their striker Luke Rodgers is about to join Yeovil Town on loan until January 1st. They also claim that a £50,000 transfer fee has already been arranged between the two clubs for a permanent transfer.
At present there is nothing on this story that isn't sourced back to the main Port Vale message board, but the variety of Vale fans that claim to have verified that the loan deal has taken place make this one worth noting, even if a pinch of salt should possibly be added to the claims, and certainly to the finer detail.
Rodgers is a 26 year old goal poacher who spent six years with Shrewsbury Town before spending two years with Crewe Alexandra, followed by a move to Port Vale in January 2007. He's probably remembered best for getting his marching orders at Huish Park after laying fists on Andy Lindegaard in a stormy encounter against Shrewsbury in January 2005 that also saw Colin Miles dismissed in a separate incident.
Vale fans claim that notes on Rodgers' Facebook account, plus information from Vale backroom staff confirm the deal, but there's yet to be anything concrete that would make this more definitive at present. If anything does, we'll of course provide an update via this news page.
