The Canadian Soccer Association has today announced its squad for the forthcoming FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, the first away in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, and the second a home tie to be played in Edmonton. Canada will be playing Honduras on Saturday 11th October and Mexico on Wednesday 15th October. After three matches, Canada is in third place in Group Two with a single point, trailing Honduras on 6 points and leaders Mexico on 9 points. Only the top two teams will qualify.
The squad will be gathered in Florida early next week for training camp before flying on to Honduras. Seventeen of the 18 players arriving in Florida are currently with European clubs. Selected for the first time for the World Cup Qualifiers are Chris Pozniak (Dundee United), Kevin Harmse (Toronto FC) and our own Joshua Wagenaar (Yeovil Town).
