Further to this morning's news, the club's agreement to take part in a pre-season tournament has now been officially confirmed.
The official press release provided by sponsors Errea gives a slightly different set of clubs, with our friends Hereford United in the list of participating sides, whilst the club official site omits them, suggesting that the Glovers have muscled in at Hereford's expense. The teams quoted by the official site are now confirmed as follows:
Crystal Palace, Yeovil Town, Torquay United, Clevedon Town, Eastleigh, Kidderminster Harriers, Bideford and Barnstaple Town.
Presumably this means that Appledore will merely be acting as hosts rather than as participants, with them hosting three matches whilst Bideford host six matches. That said, the Errea press releases do imply a certain amount of discussion still ongoing within the tournament organisers, with some information suggesting that 10 teams could be involved. Hence it is wise not to assume that this is the final list!
Games will take place between July 22nd and July 27th, with the final being held on the Sunday at the Sports Ground, Bideford. The earlier matches will be on a knockout basis.
Admission to the tournament will be £15.00 which entitles one adult and up to two children to gain admission to any of the eight knockout matches, with the final ticket being sold separately. Tickets will be printed for distribution from Tuesday 27th May once all participants are finally confirmed. The draw will take place at the Royal Hotel, Bideford on Sunday 25th May. A programme will be produced for the tournament.
Errea are hosting their press releases via the link below as well as the ability to order tickets online - although note that they will not be printing tickets for another 10 days or so. Note also that their website is yet to mention Yeovil Town in their list of participating sides.
