The final act of the 2007-08 season with respect to Man of the Match voting is to cast the Player Of The Season, calculated by the accumulation of votes across the full season.
This season has been one where pretty much every player has landed on the treatment table at some point in time, and so for many players their chances will have been thwarted by their time spent away from the pitch. That said, the high squad turnover did mean that it was possible for players like James Walker and Nathan Smith to sneak into the top ten, despite neither playing the full season for the club.
Overall though, there was one comfortable winner and that was the man who picked up the lion's share of the awards given out by the supporters groups at the end of this season. Step forward Marcus Stewart, who had captured 16 percent of all of the votes throughout the whole season. The full results are as follows:
1 Marcus Stewart
2 Scott Guyett
3 James Walker
4 Lloyd Owusu
5 Anthony Barry
6 Paul Warne
7 Terry Skiverton
8 Nathan Smith
9 Craig Alcock
10 Steve Mildenhall
Many thanks to everyone who entered throughout the season, and especially to Sarah, who did a rather magnificent job behind the scenes in totting up all the scores and understanding Paul's spreadsheets!
Marcus now joins the honours list of previous winners which read as follows:
1998-99 Warren Patmore
1999-00 Jamie Pitman
2000-01 Nick Crittenden
2001-02 Adam Stansfield
2002-03 Darren Way/Michael McIndoe (joint)
2003-04 Gavin Williams
2004-05 Darren Way
2005-06 Chris Cohen
2006-07 Terrell Forbes
