The Football League has confirmed a break from tradition that normally sees the fixtures for the forthcoming season released on a Thursday, and those for the 2008-09 season will be published on Monday 16th June. The release time is expected to remain the usual 10.00 a.m.
Apart from the usual facility for clubs to pre-designate a number of alternative kick-off dates for clashes with long-standing events in their area, there's then a seven day period of grace for applications for further alterations, with final confirmation of each club's fixture list required to be lodged with the Football League by Monday 23rd June.
On a League One note, Cheltenham Town has confirmed that, although the ground share deal to host Bristol Rovers is still subject to contract, the Football League has already agreed to schedule the home matches of the respective clubs on alternate weeks.
