Yeovil Town cruised through to the 3rd round of the FA Cup having scored five impressive goals in front of a crowd of 5,953 to beat visitors Barnet 5-1 at Huish Park today.
The Glovers first goal came in the 9th minute when a Gavin Williams wide free kick found Colin Pluck who precisely headed home for his second consecutive goal in two matches. Yeovil were still celebrating when Peter Beadle's header gave Chris Weale no chance and drew the scores level less than a minute later. The stalemate didnít last long, and 8 minutes later Yeovil were awarded a penalty from a handball by Danny Maddix. Up stepped Gavin Williams who comfortably slotted his first of the afternoon. On 27 minutes Kevin Gall used his pace to knock the ball round Bees keeper Shane Gore and somehow managed to screw the ball back from the byline to team-mate Gavin Williams who slid in for the home side's third.
Soon after the break, Barnetís best chance came from a Ben Strevens free kick which Weale saved comfortably. Nick Crittenden continued to test the Bees defence and on the 74th minute the winger buried Gall's cross with a great half-volley for the Glovers fourth goal. Two minutes later substitute Jake Edwards finished off a neat Yeovil move and rounded off a great team performance.
Final score: Yeovil Town 5 - 1 Barnet.
