Yeovil Town played out a fairly dour 0-0 draw at The Avenue Stadium against Dorchester Town tonight. Featuring another set of trialists, the Glovers were unable to unlock the Magpies defence, and in fact it was the home side who came the closest to snatching a win - having a goal chalked off in the final five minutes for offside.
Starting with four trialists, with goalkeeper Alan Playney (Doncaster, Oldham and Southampton), Justin Cochrane (Rotherham and QPR), Aaron Burns (Manchester United) and unknown Alieu Jallow, the Glovers looked reasonably solid at the back and in midfield, but showed little sign that they could provide a score at the other end.
Second half introductions for central midfielder Fawzi Saadi (AFC Bournemouth and Bournemouth Poppies) and right-winger Morgan Evans did little to disturb the status quo until the last five minutes when a spot of end to end football saw the game open out, during which time Dorchester scored the goal that wasn't. Not the highest quality of games and whether manager Russell Slade will have seen anything that he liked in the way of the new players on show is debatable.
