Central defender Curtis Ujah has signed a short term deal of unspecified length following a short trial period at the club. Curtis had played in a match at RAF Honington and followed that up with appearances against Portsmouth and Plymouth Argyle at Huish Park and by the looks of it will act as an understudy to the more established trio of Terry Skiverton, Terrell Forbes and Scott Guyett.
Curtis was born on 22 July 1988 in Sheffield and is a central defender who was on the books of Tamworth at the tail end of last season. He joined Reading's Academy before signing a professional contract in Autumn 2006, joining Slough Town on loan shortly afterwards. However, he was released by Reading on 26th January 2007 without making a first team appearance, signing for Conference National side Tamworth on 22th March 2007.
Curtis has so far proven to have a strong physical presence at the back, and despite only having his 19th birthday on this coming Sunday, he is powerfully built. His role model is former Glover Efe Sodje, although presumably without the headgear! Curtis should hopefully make his third pre-season appearance against Cardiff City tomorrow.
