Today's Scottish Daily Record newspaper is claiming that Aberdeen midfielder Gary Dempsey will be joined at Huish Park by teammate Dan Smith for next season.
Smith is a 20 year old defender, who was born in Sunderland on October 5th 1986. Starting off as a trainee for his home town club, he had a loan spell with Huddersfield Town during 2006 before returning to the Black Cats.
His career at Sunderland was slightly one to forget, managing to get sent off on his debut for two yellow cards in a League Cup match against Cheltenham Town and then being involved in the tackle that broke Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby's leg at the tail end of the 2005-06 season. However, Sunderland thought enough of him to give the defender a four year contract over that summer, only for Scottish Premier League side Aberdeen to step in and offer him a three year deal.
Dan, who usually plays as a left-back, has only made eight appearances for the Dons, although part of has been caused by injury. The Daily Record don't elaborate as to where their information has come from and at what stage matters are at - if anything else transpires to substantiate or refute this story we'll provide an update.
