This Saturday's match at Ashton Gate between Bristol City and Yeovil Town will be looked after by Premiership referee Michael Dean (Wirral). Not too surprisingly, we've not had Mr Dean for a Yeovil match before, but as is often the case with local derbies, the authorities tend to cherry pick from their "elite" list.
Michael (usually known as Mike) started refereeing in 1985 before making The Football League assistant referee list in 1995 and the referees list in 1997. He joined the Premiership list in 2000 and then made the FIFA referees list in 2003. Michael has refereed many major games in his career including the FA Trophy in 2004 and the Community Shield in the same year. He was also Fourth Official at the 2003 FA Cup Final. He almost refereed the 2006 FA Cup final but was withdrawn at the last minute due to his local side Liverpool getting to the final.
Mr Dean will be assisted by John Flynn (Wiltshire) and Martin Yerby (Kent). Fourth Official will be Guy Stretton (Leicestershire).
