There will be a pitch inspection at Carlisle United's Brunton Park ground tomorrow morning at 10.30am to determine whether the League One fixture against Yeovil Town should go ahead.
There has not been any significant snow in Cumbria yet this week, but it is the hard frosts that have been causing the home side concerns with a Reserve Team fixture postponed during the week because of a frozen pitch.
Carlisle have been doing their best to resolve matters by keeping covers on the pitch for the past four days and it is the Warwick Road End of the ground that is causing the most concern. As a result they plan to put a double set of covers out onto the pitch at that end of the stadium tonight. Carlisle have also brought in some heaters that they will use on the problem areas of the pitch tomorrow morning if necessary.
Carlisle's official site state that "the club are confident the outcome will be positive" - pointing to rising temperatures expected in the past 24 hours. The MetCheck website predicts that temperatures will dip down to minus 3 tonight, but by kick-off time will have risen to +1 degree celcius. The fly in the ointment is the windchill and some snow showers expected right up until kick-off.
As soon as a decision is made, Ciderspace will provide an update on this news page, whatever the outcome is.
