Friday night's match against Cheltenham Town will see Phil Dowd of Staffordshire take charge of proceedings. Mr Dowd will be assisted by Huish Park regular Guy Beale of Taunton and Roger East of Wiltshire. The fourth official will be Andrew Turner from Devon.
We don't normally cross paths with Mr Dowd given that he is on the "select" list of referees normally set aside for Premiership games. Dowd began refereeing in 1984, and reached the Premier League list in 2001. We think this is the first time he has refereed a match involving the Glovers. On Saturday he took charge of Bolton Wanderers vs Liverpool and has so far refereed four games at that level this season, dishing out a fairly meagre seven yellow cards, with no dismissals.
