Attendance 212
In a game that was divided into three periods a very youthful looking Yeovil Town XI came out on top against Toolstation Western League division one newcomers Sherborne Town at Raleigh Grove in front of a crowd of 212.
In an even opening period both sides had 'goals' ruled out, with the hosts the unlucky side on the first occasion. Yeovil Town scored their opening goal in the second of the three periods when Phil Ormerod got behind the 'Sherb' defence to net from eight yards with a clinical finish after fifty minutes. Sherborne boss Martyn Starnes has a side that should hold their own in The Western League this term, and for the Yeovil youngsters this was to prove a notable victory on a very hard pitch.
Yeovil added a second goal when Irishman Stephen Maher picked up a clearance on the edge of the penalty box and rifled a shot high into the corner of the net with ten minutes remaining. Sherborne Town almost reduced the deficit when a last gasp header flashed wide of an upright.
Other players featuring in tonight's game were Oliver Wake, Gary Bowles, Harry Sherwood (new player and son of former Glovers defender Jeff Sherwood), Jake Smeeton, Craig Alcock, Dan O'Brien, Tom Clarke. There were a large number of new faces, including seven trialists who appeared during the final period of the game.
