Yeovil Town and Chippenham Town played out their third consecutive pre-season 0-0 draw at Hardenhuish Park tonight, in front of 704 spectators.
On a bond-hard pitch that was in desperate need of watering, ball control was not an easy task, and the game was littered with off-target shots for both sides that contributed to the lack of a breakthrough in sweltering conditions.
The Glovers produced two different teams for both halves, with Stephen Collis the only player to get through the whole 90 minutes. The teams were as follows:
FIRST HALF
Stephen Collis
Adam Lockwood, Hugo Rodrigues, Colin Pluck,
Nick Crittenden, Darren Way, Franklin Manuel, Lee Johnson, Abdelhalim El Kholti
Kevin Gall, Kirk Jackson
SECOND HALF
Stephen Collis,
Roy O'Brien, Alex Jeannin, Joao Marafona
Andy Lindegaard, Ian Patchett, Lewis Hogg, Gareth Phillips, Stephen Reed
Jones Bamfo, Adam Stansfield
Although Bamfo started as a striker, within 10 minutes the former Fulham player swapped places with Lindegaard and played as a wing-back thereafter. The other trialists were Hugo Rodrigues, Joao Marafona and Franklin Manuel who were a trio from Portugal, Lewis Hogg formerly of Bristol Rovers and Gareth Phillips formerly of Swansea.
In other news Joe Taylor has been released from his trial with the club and will not be used again. Sam Sodje was rested tonight and is likely to feature on Wednesday. Jamie Gosling was requested not to be played tonight by Bath manager Alan Pridham, given Chippenham are Bath’s league rivals; Gosling will therefore play Wednesday.
Of the contracted players, Chris Weale is again unlikely to feature on Wednesday - current indications are that he should be fit to return by the weekend, whilst Gavin Williams is likely to need another week to recover from his ankle problems.
