Friday night's match against Sporting Lokeren saw two new trialists take to the field for the Glovers as part of their 0-0 draw.
Abdul Senanu has had a very brief previous flirtation with the British Isles, having been signed and very quickly released by St Mirren. Senanu was an unused substitute in the SLC semi-final on 27th August 2002. A statement on the 29th August said he had been released and had returned to Austria. However, in December 2002, he appears to have returned to England where he had a trial with Nationwide Conference side Margate though it seems he failed to settle there and did not make a first team appearance for the club.
Senanu was born on 9th June 1977, and is a defender of Ghanaian origin, and was released from Royal Antwerp during the summer of 2002, prior to his brief move to Scotland.
His time at Antwerp saw him rub shoulders with the volatile Bimbo Lanre Fatokun who went on to play for Scarborough, as well as Barry Budts who is also on trial with the Glovers.
The second trialist in Friday night's match is listed as Danny Kirkleeze. We believe it is Danny Kukulies, a 23 year old central midfielder currently with SC Pfullendorf. Previous clubs - BFC Dynamo/FC Berlin (Youth) (1994-1996), Reinickendorfer Füchse (B- and A- Youth teams) (1996-1999), SpVgg Greuther Fürth (1999-2001), and Dresdner SC (2002). He's over six foot and just over 12 stone.
Friday's attendance was 237, with approximately 30 making the journey from Yeovil.
Line-Up: Chris Weale, Adam Lockwood, Roy O'Brien, Colin Pluck, Darren Way, Lee Johnson, Nick Crittenden, Michael McIndoe, Gavin Williams, Kirk Jackson, Kevin Gall.
Subs: (all used) Jamie Gosling, Joe Taylor, Abdelhalim El Kholti, Adam Stansfield, Andy Lindegaard, Stephen Collis, Danny Kirkleeze, Abdul Senanu.
Seb White has produced a diary page of his group's travels around Antwerp on their first day out in Belgium, and you can read it here. Expect more updates from Seb throughout the coming days - Belgian beer permitting!
