Former Yeovil Town loanee Alex Pattison has found himself a new club. The 21 year old was a free agent after Championship side Middlesbrough made the decision to release him whilst he was seeing out the tail end of his 2018-19 season at Huish Park. He's made the decision to sign a one year contract with League One side Wycombe Wanderers, joining a club where American businessman Rob Couhig is currently looking to take on a shareholding at Adams Park.
Boss Gareth Ainsworth has said that he has been monitoring Pattison both within Middlesbrough's Under-23 league and during his loan spell with Yeovil Town. He acknowledged the fundraising efforts of Wycombe's 500 Club - a fans led fundraising campaign that works with their Supporters Trust, who currently own the club, with that wing helping to boost Ainsworth's playing budget:
"We weren’t expecting to be able to make permanent signings this summer, but the fans have got right behind us yet again when we needed them and contributed a significant amount of money which has enabled us to bring a player of Alex's calibre to the club. Dobbo (assistant manager Richard Dobson) and I pay a lot of attention to the under-23 leagues and Alex is a player who has stood out for us for some time. He had a good year in senior football with Yeovil last season and we believe he’s got all the attributes to go on and become a key player for us and potentially return to a higher level in his career. I'd like to say a massive thank you again to everyone who’s contributed to the 500 Club and I'm sure all those fans will be looking forward to seeing Alex in action, because he’s a very talented player and a great lad who will settle quickly into the culture we've got here."
Pattison made 34 appearances for Yeovil Town during the 2018-19 season, and probably would have made more than that were it not for a back injury that restricted the number of games he was available for, from Christmas onwards.
