The National League has held its 2019 AGM today. This recognises the moment that Yeovil Town's membership of the Football League has been ended, with them being welcomed in as members of the division that used to be known as the Conference league. Whilst Glovers executives will have been used to travelling to AGMs held in Portugal over the last sixteen years, this year they will have headed to Celtic Manor in Newport to hear the major decisions made by the league.
One of those we already know about from earlier today. Aldershot Town have been given a reprieve from relegation and will continue to play in the National League main division. Gateshead are confirmed as relegated to National League North. As a result, Oxford City's move into the North division is now reversed - they will keep their place in National League South.
There was a January report that the National League sponsorship would be rebranded to become the Motorama National League. That has been cancelled and the official sponsored name of the division will remain as the Vanarama National League. Motorama, who are part of the same trading group, will be the 'official car leasing partner'.
The National League have also announced plans to set up a National League Football Academy System, presumably to deal with the fact that non-league sides do not qualify as being part of the Premier League's EPPP Academy System - except for those clubs that are still eligible for parachute payments during the two years after relegation from the Football League.
The league have also formally announced the key dates for the 2019-20 season. These are as follows:
• Fixtures released on Wednesday 3rd July 2019
• Opening fixtures on Saturday 3rd August 2019
• Season finishes on Saturday 25th April 2020
• Vanarama North & South Promotion Finals on Saturday 9th May 2020
• Vanarama Promotion Final at Wembley on Sunday 10th May 2020
