Tuesday night's opponents Port Vale have said that they are not planning on holding a pitch inspection for their game against Yeovil Town. The match takes place at Vale Park tonight, with a 7.45p.m. kick-off, but there has been heavy rain in the Midlands this morning, with plenty of surface water on the roads in the Stoke area.
At present the weather forecast predicts that the rain will begin to ease off during early afternoon, which will hopefully allow the pitch a chance to dry out before the evening kick-off. Port Vale CEO Colin Garlick has said (as of 11.15a.m.) that they are not planning to bring in a local referee to look at the pitch:
"We haven't got a pitch inspection planned. We are expecting the rain to stop around lunchtime so we are not looking to bring anyone in."
Port Vale's social media account have provided a consistent message on this subject:
"Fans of Port Vale and Yeovil Town, please be aware that there is NO scheduled pitch inspection ahead of tonight's game as of yet. We will keep you all updated throughout the day and will let you know as soon as possible if there will be a pitch inspection."
