Yeovil Town defender Tom James has been nominated for the Leaague Two Player Of The Month. The nominations for January 2019 have been made by the Football League, and see the versatile player named during a month that saw him score goals against Cheltenham Town and Notts County. The month saw him play a variety of positions, including right-back, a holding midfield role, and also central defence.
The Football League say the following about his nomination:
Tom James (Yeovil Town) – central defender
The classy youngster could have moved on from Huish Park by now, but while he stays, Yeovil have a player who can impact both end of the pitch. He helped to preserve two clean sheets and scored two of Yeovil’s four January goals.
Tom has been nominated alongside players from Forest Green Rovers, Carlisle United and Bury. Their nominations are as follows:
Christian Doidge (Forest Green Rovers) - striker
It is hard to overstate the mental turmoil and self-doubt Doidge must have felt when he was sent back from Bolton this month. Instead of moping, he responded with dignity, commitment and three goals in four starts.
Hallam Hope (Carlisle United) - striker
Carlisle’s surge up the League Two table can be attributed in large part to Hope’s stellar form. Mobile and quick, he possesses the attributes defenders hate, cutting in from the left. Scored three goals and claimed an assist.
Jay O'Shea (Bury) – midfielder
Having the goalscoring season of his life. Five more came in January and all but one either equalised or gave Bury the lead. All kinds, too, from a lovely driving run and shot at Forest Green to a low fizzer against Lincoln.
All Player Of The Month and Manager Of The Month awards are announced on Friday morning.
