It wouldn't be possible to stage a Yeovil Town home match, without there being new roadworks to tell you about. In fairness, this is the second phase of an ongoing section of road closures that were known about last month, but now move on to provide resurfacing work and further enhancements in the area as part of Somerset County Council's Western Corridor improvements. The works will affect Tuesday night's home match against West Ham United Under-21s and to an extent will affect Saturday's FA Cup First Round tie against Stockport County. Note that the arrangements are different to past publicised roadworks, so if you've been to previous home games, or travel around the area, expect road access changes to be in place this week.
The first thing to note is that after the West Ham Under-21s match, Bunford Lane will be closed between Westlands Roundabout and Bluebell Roundabout. The closures will take place overnight between 8.00p.m. and 6.00a.m. and so will only affect supporters after the match. However, the crucial bit is that you will not be able to gain access to the A3088 leading out to the Cartgate Roundabout from that side of roadworks. If you really need to reach the Cartgate Roundabout area, you might want to consider leaving the town via the A37. The official diversion route takes you on a huge loop around the town and via Lysander Road. These overnight closures are set to be in place between November 5th and November 23rd. They will not affect Saturday fixtures (unless you leave Huish Park extremely late).
Local fans have told us it is possible to reach the A3088 by heading onto minor roads from Houndstone, and then looping around Montacute before coming back out onto the A3088. However, that will depend on whether you are comfortable with a few village lanes and the 20mph speed limit through Montacute. It's certainly not a route we would recommend for larger cars or coaches - head via the A37 if you fall into that category.
The second thing to note is that there will be a one-way system on Lufton Way reintroduced, and this will apply on a 24x7 basis. Traffic will be able to access Lufton Way from the Preston Road Roundabout but will not be able to exit from Lufton Way to the Roundabout. You'll need to loop clockwise around the ground and reach the Preston Road Roundabout via Western Avenue. The expectation is that this diversion will be in place until December 21st and so will affect all home matches during that period. If you park in the Main Stand car park, or use street parking around Screwfix, you'll need to turn right after the game and loop around the ground.
Edit: Added additional information for those comfortable with using village lanes via Montacute to reach the A3088.
