Officials for the League Two match between Morecambe and Yeovil Town have been published by the Football League. The match takes place on Saturday 3rd November 2018 (today) with a 3.00p.m. kick-off at the Globe Arena. The man in charge of the fixture will be referee Peter Wright (Liverpool).
He is a first year referee at Football League level, having been promoted in the summer of 2017. His final act of last season was to take charge of the National League Play-Off tie between Tranmere Rovers and Ebbsfleet United. Since moving into the Football League, he's taken charge of ten League matches and two EFL Trophy tie, managing 33 yellow cards and four red cards.
The fourth of those red cards came during a rather extraordinary match against Newport County at Rodney Parade, which represents our one and only meeting involving Mr Wright as the man in the middle. He took charge of the club's 0-6 win, which was the club's record victory since promotion to the Football League. He didn't have a lot of input into the match, except for one decision made in the 82nd minute when the home side were already six goals down. He dismissed Robbie Willmott for a rather horrible tackle on Olufela Olomola and we got the impression that home boss Mike Flynn wasn't making a big deal about the referee's decision, stating that Willmott had been fined for his actions. Prior to that, the match officials had barely needed to be involved.
Mr Wright will be assisted by Mark Cunliffe (Merseyside) and Gary Hilton (Lancashire). The Fourth Official will be Gareth Mellor (Leeds).
